Applications Open for the VYZOV Prize for Future Technologies

At the Future Technologies Forum the opening of applications for the 2026 VYZOV Prize for Future Technologies was announced.

Dmitry Chernyshenko
, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vyzov Foundation, gave the start to the new season of the award.

“It is symbolic that it is at the Future Technologies Forum that we launch the new, fourth season of the VYZOV Prize. The Prize is aimed at popularizing scientific knowledge and elevating the prestige of the scientific profession. These are key objectives of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by our President, Vladimir Putin. It is gratifying to see the VYZOV Prize gaining momentum. Last year we received a record number of applications – over 600 from 40 countries. It is important that science and technology are supported not only by the state, but also by business and the nonprofit sector. The Prize is open to scientists from around the world, with a special international category recognizing their achievements”.

Scientists and engineers can submit their applications on the award's website https://fondvyzov.com/ from February 25 to May 25. The VYZOV Prize honors high-tech developments and research with significant potential to improve people’s lives. The organizer and founder of the prize is the Vyzov Foundation. The co‑founder of the prize is Gazprombank.

“If we help scientists develop their projects today, then tomorrow these projects will become small technology companies, and the day after tomorrow – major high-tech corporations. It is important for us to support ideas and innovations that will evolve into new industries. We also want to show young people that science today can make them successful – that it is not only their calling and area of interest, but also a chance to build truly meaningful projects and change our future,” noted Dmitry Zauers, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprombank.

The VYZOV Prize is awarded in five categories: Future, Breakthrough, Engineering Solution, Scientist of the Year, Discovery (International category). Partners of the Prize include the Rosatom State Corporation, the Roscongress Foundation, and the Moscow Government. This year, the Prize fund has increased to 65 million rubles.

“Today, Moscow is more than just a metropolis. It’s the country’s largest science and industrial center. We are creating the conditions for the scientific foundation of the future to be built here, and for new ideas to become real products. Companies are increasingly investing in R&D and innovation, and scientists are at the forefront of these processes – they are setting trends in pharmaceuticals, microelectronics, medicine, and new materials. In this context, the VYZOV Prize is becoming a navigator for new growth points in the capital’s industrial sector – high-tech, efficient, and geared toward creating an environment of accelerated development,” emphasized Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow City Government and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.

Over three years, applications to the VYZOV Prize have nearly tripled: from 218 in 2023 to 632 in 2025. In total, more than 1,400 applications from 52 countries have been submitted across the Prize’s three seasons. The Prize’s Scientific Committee includes leading scientists and science communicators.

“We live in interesting and challenging times. A scientific and technological revolution is unfolding before our eyes; the world’s unity is fractured, and the economies of most countries are sliding into crisis. The world is being transformed; we do not yet know what it will become, but we do know that its shape will be defined by the scientific and technological breakthroughs happening now. The VYZOV Prize was created precisely to spotlight these breakthroughs and support those who are making them,” said Artem Oganov, Chairman of the VYZOV Prize Scientific Committee and Distinguished Professor at Skoltech.

During the three-month application campaign, a science tour will take place: the VYZOV Prize laureates will travel across the country to present their work.

“We first introduced the science tour format last year, and it sparked great interest. This season, we want to make the project even more ambitious and expand its geography. It is an opportunity both to tell people about the Prize and to introduce residents of different cities to outstanding scientists whose discoveries are already improving our lives and shaping the future,” said Natalia Tretyak, CEO of the Vyzov Foundation.

For the third year, the VYZOV Prize’s communications partner is the MAER Media Group. The communicationcampaign supporting the new season will launch on media facades and digital screens nationwide starting February 25. It will reach more than 12 million people in cities across Russia, from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad.

“Supporting initiatives like the VYZOV Prize is an investment in shaping a new culture of perceiving science. Today it is especially important to talk about the people who create the future – Russian scientists, engineers, and researchers. We see rising interest in the Prize, growing application numbers, and an expanding international geography. Our task is to make sure the most outstanding scientists are known in every corner of the country,” said Konstantin Mayor, CEO of the MAER Media Group.
