VYZOV Prize laureate Vera Vil’ in all schools across the country!

Why do we need science, and how does it affect our lives? VYZOV Prize laureate Vera Vil’ talked about it as part of the Important Conversations project. This week’s lesson is dedicated to Russian Science Day, celebrated annually on February 8th.

“Anyone who wants to become a scientist can do so. Students can join many institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences as early as their first year of university and start working in a lab. But there are also cases when schoolkids come to scientific institutions and make their first discoveries. The work and daily activities of a scientist are incredibly interesting because one finds themselves alone with nature. When you make a discovery and learn something about nature — something no one knew before — it’s a truly unforgettable moment. There are few things in life that can compare to that,” Vera Vil’ shared.
