05.06.2026 On June 5, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the results of the application campaign for the VYZOV Prize were announced. In 2026, the VYZOV Prize received 1,438 applications fr om 48 countries (including Russia). Compared to last year, the number of applications has more than doubled. This was reported by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vyzov Foundation.

“Interest in the VYZOV Prize this year is enormous. About 1,500 applications were submitted. That is almost 2.5 times more than last year. The geography is expanding: scientists from 79 regions of our country applied. The VYZOV Prize is confidently drawing researchers from around the world into its orbit. In the international nomination, applications this year came from 47 countries! This confirms that science knows no borders. It is also gratifying to note that science is getting younger. Half of all applications for the VYZOV Prize come from participants under 45. The leader among all nominations is the 'Engineering Solution' category. This reflects the great interest in this field in Russia. May this prestigious award become not only a recognition of the merits of outstanding scientists and engineers, but also an incentive for new discoveries,” emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
The geographic reach of the prize has expanded noticeably. In the international Discovery category, applications came from 47 countries (compared to 39 last year). These include China, Brazil, the United States, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, India, Israel, the UAE, Turkey, Serbia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Within Russia, the Prize’s geographic coverage this year encompasses 79 regions (compared to 58 last year). The leading regions by number of applications: Moscow (386), St. Petersburg (161), Moscow Region (84), Novosibirsk Region (55), the Republic of Tatarstan (48), Sverdlovsk Region (35), Samara Region (34), Nizhny Novgorod Region (32), Voronezh Region (29), and Tomsk Region (25).
The leader among nominations by number of applications submitted is the Engineering Solution category (522 applications), reflecting significant public and professional interest in this field. 50% of those who applied for the VYZOV Prize in 2026 are scientists and engineers under 45.
“The prestige of the VYZOV Prize is growing, and with it, so is public interest. This year, both the number of applications and their geographic scope have increased significantly. We have covered almost all regions of our vast country. We received a great response from scientists and engineers in cities wh ere we held Science Roadshows during the application campaign. Next year, we plan to continue this project. I would also like to note that in the international nomination, the number of countries submitting applications grows every year. This season, for example, we have participants from Japan and Singapore for the first time, with the most applications coming from China,” commented Natalia Tretyak, CEO of the Vyzov Foundation.

Science is international by nature and must remain above politics. We have adhered to this principle since the Prize’s inception. For us, the sole criterion is the value of a scientific achievement or engineering development. I believe it is largely thanks to this approach that the VYZOV Prize has built a strong reputation, allowing us to receive high-quality applications from countries with traditionally strong science. As Chair of the VYZOV Prize Scientific Committee, I can say with certainty that a great deal of work lies ahead this season. At the same time, I am confident it will be very interesting and will bring to light new names and ideas that will improve the lives of millions of people,” said Vsevolod Belousov, Chair of the VYZOV Prize Scientific Committee, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Director of the FMBA Federal for Brain Research and Neurotechnologies.
The results of the 2026 application campaign were announced at the booth of the Prize’s communications partner, the MAER Group.

The record number of applications and the expanding international presence confirm that the VYZOV Prize has become a global platform for dialogue among scientists, engineers, and innovators. The prize fund in 2026 amounts to 65 million rubles – 13 million rubles in each of the five categories. The names of the laureates will be announced at the VYZOV Prize Award Ceremony in December at the Moscow Manege.
