Vyzov Sophiko with Vadim Govorun and Alla Sigalova

What is muscle memory? Can the boundaries of human capability be expanded? How can you develop a sense of rhythm? The latest episode of the Vyzov Sophiko intellectual show, brought together choreographer and director Alla Sigalova and biologist Vadim Govorun, member of the VYZOV Prize Scientific Committee.

“Discussions like these push you to reflect on timeless matters. When a person starts to think, they become better, smarter, and begin to ponder why they are alive. This helps do away with destructive habits. Scientists and artists look at the same things from different perspectives, and through this dialogue, new truths are born,” Vadim Govorun said.

“People need to talk to one another, it’s the greatest gift nature has given us. The worlds of science and art are two universes united by passion. Only passionate people can dedicate themselves fully to what they do, without being distracted by anything else,” Alla Sigalova pointed out.

The filming took place at the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and drew enormous public interest. The hall was full, and the conversation proved revelatory for both the audience and the host, Sophiko Shevardnadze.

“When I work on the questions and map out the script for an upcoming conversation, I have an inner sense of how it should go, but on stage, it can unfold in a completely different way. Today was exactly that kind of case. The main takeaway for me is that the meaning of life lies not only in movement but also in flexibility and in a certain letting go of control,” Sophiko Shevardnadze emphasized.

The project is being carried out by the VYZOV Foundation with the support of the Internet Development Institute. Watch the full episode in the START online cinema!
